A new landmark has emerged in the cityscape of Oulu, connecting the two residential areas in the city. Currently under construction, the bridge is set to be completed by the summer of 2025. The bridge’s tension rods are of Peikko’s BESISTA® system.
The visually striking design of the bridge is inspired by the lightweight, bird-like form, which creates a silhouette in the delta landscape of the Oulujoki River. From a technical perspective, the two-cable bridge is an advanced structure. The 170-meter-long and 4.5-6.2-meter-wide bridge pathway elegantly curves in the shape of the letter "S."
