Norcem AS as part of Heidelberger Cement Company is investing in new cement production plant using carbon capture and storage technology (CCS). Therefore, seawater intake basins had to be produced onshore and lifted into jetty constructions.
Lifting these two heavyweight concrete basins (377 tonnes and 263 tonnes) required 4 lifting inserts in each basin. The loads exceeded the capacity of typical standard Lifting Systems for precast concrete elements. Peikko designed and produced customized lifting inserts for that special lifting operation.
