The Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) will be amongst the world's first to be built to US Green Building Council LEED Certification standards and will officially open its first phase for business in September 2016. This phase includes:
- 22,396 square metres of column-free, multipurpose exhibition space also designed for plenary sessions, concerts performances, and gala events seating up to 10,000
- 10 hospitality suites seating up to 196 theatre style
- 5 office suites
- Multi-story carpark for 4,000 vehicles
The second phase, opening in 2017, will feature:
- Lyric-style tiered auditorium seating 3,200
- Flexible Grand Ballroom seating 2,688
- Flexible Junior Ballroom seating 1,026
- Tiered Theatre for 456
- 19 meeting rooms catering for 47 - 360 delegates
- VIP Pavilion
The surrounding Precinct will feature:
- Four hotels with a combined total of 1,000 rooms, including a five star JW Marriot with a direct link to the convention centre through the Hotel Pavilion, a four star Crown Plaza, and two more hotels (four star and three star)
- Business Park
- Retail shopping mall
- Protected nature reserve
